1N 1990, I was the woman who established the world’s first organization (TLC Foundation for BFRBs) focused on research, treatment and outreach for BFRBs.

I grew up suffering terribly from relentless chronic hair pulling and skin picking; my life was negatively impacted in so many tragic ways until I set out on a mission to understand these chronic disorders and be free of them.

Today, we call these disorders BFRBs, or Body Focused Repetitive Behaviors, and they are categorized in the DSM-5 under Obsessive Compulsive Spectrum Disorders.

ABOUT ME

Founder of the TLC Foundation for BFRBs (https://www.bfrb.org) I am the woman who established the world’s first center for BFRBs (The TLC Foundation for BFRBs) in 1990, and worked hard for over two decades to give this realm of human suffering a voice. TLC received nonprofit status in 1991. Today, 33 years later, the TLC organization I founded is still going strong. BFRB IMPULSE REDUCTION CLASSES

Once I learned to reduce my pulling & picking behaviors, eventually being able to stop completely, people would ask “How did you DO it?” I never had the language that allowed me to explain how I stayed behavior-free until I attended a 7-day mindfulness training taught by Jon Kabbat Zinn, Ph.D. in 2009. I was totally stunned to find that years before, I had stumbled into the state of “living mindfully” and that I utilized this state as the foundation for my recovery… Today my passion is sharing with others the tools I have used to support almost 30 years of strong recovery. WORKING WITH ME PRIVATELY

I do take on a few Private Students who want/need to work with me individually. The first step is to spend 30-45 minutes speaking with me on a video chat, or on the telephone. This allows us to introduce ourselves, and helps me determine if what I teach could be helpful for you. If we both decide to move forward, our first 4 sessions together will be about 75 minutes long, then moving to a timelength that works with your schedule… MORE
