ABOUT MY CLASSES

Periodically, I teach online classes in what I call Mindfulness Based Impulse Reduction. My classes are modeled on the empirically proven Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction program framework created by Jon Kabbat Zinn, Ph.D, and associates at the Center for Mindfulness at the University of Massachussetts, Worcester. Of course, I have adapted it greatly for addressing BFRBs. This course is 9 weeks long, and contains the tools I have used (and continue to use!) to strengthen and maintain my 25 years + of strong BFRB Recovery.

n my own experience, to address, and change, a behavioral pattern that has been reinforced thousands, even millions, of times over years,

and create new neural pathways, it generally takes a consistent, persistent, approach best done without goal-based pressure (i.e.: You MUST stop by a particular date like your birthday, the wedding, the stage performance, Fourth of July, Thanksgiving, etc.)

Although sometimes motivating, more often than not, I have seen that these types of inner demands/ narratives undermine self-worth and tend to stunt effective, life-changing progress. The tools in this course are the ones that have kept me pull and pick free for almost 30 years, and helped me navigate well even when Life is at its most difficult.

  • And so much more!

STUDENTS WILL RECEIVE:

STUDENTS WILL LEARN:

There are 3 phases to the course:

  1. Investigation - where we learn how to investigate our own awareness, learn to enhance it, and then apply it to our behavioral triggers with a goal of understanding why we do what we do….

  2. Discovery - where we experiment with a variety of sensory, emotional, and cognitive tools, finding what actually resonates, and practice utilizing these “transition tools” in order to wean ourselves from the learned default of BFRB behaviors.

  3. Integration - where we begin the process of aligning our practice with our deeper self in order to live the life we truly want to live.

SEE YOU IN CLASS!
